Globus Hystericus is a theatre company based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The company produces shows and carries out pedagogical work in the fields of physical, street, mask, and clown theater.
The company was founded in 2014 by Alenka Marinič and Justin Durel. In 2021, Anja Završnik, who previously participated in almost all of Globus’s shows, joined the company as well. The company has performed and/or presented workshops in Slovenia, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and the USA.
Inspired by a pedagogical lineage that runs from Suzanne Bing to Giovanni Fusetti (and further forward and further backward), Globus Hystericus studies historical popular theatrical genres and looks for new ways to apply the principles of these genres in the creation of new work for today’s audiences.
