PHYSICAL TRAINING FOR PERFORMERS

mondays, 12. october - 30. november 2026

ABOUT THE TRAINING
Our training for actors, performers, dancers, and anyone who would like to feel more confident and aware on stage is back.

Across eight weekly sessions this autumn, we’ll work on maintaining the physical fitness and flexibility that are essential for an embodied and conscious use of the body in performance. Part of the sessions will be dedicated to physical theatre exercises that help develop awareness of the body and emotions on stage and expand your performance potential.

So yes, there will be sweating and running — and this time, also breath and voice, plus plenty of other useful things along the way!

This edition brings together four mentors across eight sessions, all of whom you may have already encountered in March as part of the physical theatre programme Uigrano telo. Now they return in a more condensed format, at Stage Practice.

With Justin Durel, we’ll explore mime as a playful tool for expanding the possibilities of the stage. From physical exercises to improvisation, we’ll investigate how the body can create big spaces within small ones, create a sense of physical height where there is none, and manipulate the audience’s perspective.

With Alenka Marinič, we’ll build the physical fitness needed for the stage through targeted physical training, while taking into account the specific demands of the actor’s body. This part of the training is being developed in collaboration with kinesiologist Klara Žalec.

With Luka Piletič, we’ll use games and exercises to train playfulness and communication — with fellow performers as well as with the audience.

With Gregor Geč, we’ll use tools from Fitzmaurice Voicework® to explore how to find a more relaxed body, spontaneous breath, and a resonant voice. We’ll investigate what affects breath and voice, and how we can breathe, speak, shout, or cry without working against our own bodies.

ABOUT THE PEDAGOGY

The laws of movement determine the tools actors use in performance. We call the use of these tools technique. When an actor enjoys using these tools, we call it play.

Alongside exploring breath, spatial awareness, different physical attitudes, gestures, and body language, the pedagogy we are developing focuses on the point where technique and playfulness meet.
